LMX2595: Near the required RAMP output, 15.4-16.4GHz, there are a lot of clutter

Part Number: LMX2595

Hi team,

One customers' issues.

The TICS PRO configuration is as follows:

There are many clutter around the desired frequency ends, and the test narrow band spectrum (Max hold) and full band spectrum maps are as follows:

Modifying the Desired Duration has no significant effect.

What is the reason for this?

What are the ways to improve it?

Best Regards,

Amy Luo

  • Hi Amy,

You are sweeping the VCO frequency between 7700MHz and 8200MHz, the sweep range is 500MHz, as such, multiple VCO calibrations are required during sweep. You have setup VCO calibration every 100MHz sweep, this setup should be ok but you did not setup enough time for the calibration. Suggest put at least 50µs in the Min. VCO Calibration Time field.

Since multiple VCO calibrations are required in order to support 500MHz sweep, the sweep is not a linear frequency sweep. If you are looking for linear sweep, we have to limit to sweep range to around 100MHz.

The RST bit is not needed as the end frequency of RAMP1 is equal to the start frequency of RAMP0.
