LMX2594EVM: LMX2594 & LMX2615 Query related to EVM Board Schematic

Part Number: LMX2594EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594

Hello,

1. For LMX2594 EVM board Schematic, R32 =100 Ohm register is DNP, where for LMX2615 EVM board schematic, R32=100 connected. if i have to use one input RF pin in place of two then what should we have to do?

should we used R32 register or not?

2. what is the line current for VCCBUF, VCCDIG, VCCCP, VCCMASH, VCCVCO2, VCCVCO?

3. What happened if we operate LMX2594 below 3.15 Volt or above 3.45 Volt.

  • Hi Nilesh,

In LMX2615EVM, R32 is actually not needed, we have removed it in newly built EVM. You can remove it from your board, use one of the OSCin inputs as the reference clock input.

The current consumption of the device will change depending on register configuration, VCO frequency, charge pump output, etc. For an arbitrary typical configuration with 2050MHz out and 100MHz in, I find the following:

    VccDIG: 63mA
VccCP: 26mA (charge pump set to 15mA effective gain)
VccBUF: 193mA (one output active - increase by about 92mA for two outputs active. Includes current through external pull-ups)
    VccMASH: 18mA (3rd order, N=61.5)
VccVCO + VccVCO2: 130mA (I can split these up if required, pulling raw data from a previous test that grouped them).
    Total: ~430mA

Devices are characterized between 3.15V and 3.45V. Outside this range a little bit, it should be fine, you may get similar performance as datasheet shown. If the voltage is far away from this range, you may see a different performance or the device may get hurt.
