LMX2492EVM: Using of External clock

I am using LMX2492EVM as a signal generator in our application. we want to provide external reference clock to the board so that we can synchronize with other boards. There is a need of removal of two SMD resistor from pcb board, mentioned in datasheet which is not user friendly. Can there be any methods except removing resistors so that we can use external reference clock in board?

Hi Amit,

I am afraid this is the minimum effort we have to pay in order to switch to use a different reference clock.

Can you provide us the output voltage level of reference clocks? And we are using +/- 1.4 Volt external clock. Is this sufficient voltage level for proving external clock.

is it a single-ended square wave clock swing between 0V and 2.8V?

Or a single-ended sine wave swing between +/-1.4V?

This is a 7dBm signal, good enough for the EVM.

And what should be the minimum value of signal for EVM.

Hi Amit,

Datasheet has the input signal requirement. The EVM has a 6dB T-pad at the input, you need to add 6dB to the min. value as specified in the datasheet.
