LMK05028: Clock & timing forum

Part Number: LMK05028

Hi,

I would like to ask you a question about the parameter meaning of "DPLL Phase Lock Detectors".

Please tell me the meaning of following parameter set value.

  - Lock Threshold

I am currently using the value "31" that changed when I ran MATLAB.

  - Unlock Threshold

I am currently using the value "39" that changed when I ran MATLAB.

  - Lock LPF Coefficient

I am currently using the value "0" that changed when I ran MATLAB.

  - Tph-lock

The time changes depending on the Lock Threshold, but please tell me the details of this.

When Lock Threshold is 31, then 0.1034nSec.

  - Tph-unlk

The time also changes depending on the Unlock Threshold, but please tell me the details of this.

When Unlock Threshold is 39, then 26.47nSec.

      ※ REF TDC Rate[Hz] = 994,646.990740741[Hz]

Thank you for your support.

  • Hello Suzuki-san,

    1.  Lock Threshold and Tph lock are the same thing, just presented in different formats.
      1. These controls work as follows:
        1. A lock threshold is set and a Tph lock is calculated in seconds.
        2. The DPLL is considered as phase locked if the phase difference between the two inputs of TDC (divided reference and divided VCO1) is within the lock threshold.
    2. Unlock threshold and Tph unlock are the same thing, just presented in different formats.
      1. These controls work as follows:
        1. A unlock threshold is set and a Tph unlock is calculated in seconds.
        2. While the DPLL is phase locked, it's considered as phase unlocked if the phase difference between the two inputs of TDC (divided reference and divided VCO1) exceeds the unlock threshold.
    3. Lock LPF coefficient.
      1. This control is a filter for the phase variation on the VCO1 feedback. Higher values are more filtering.

    Thanks!
