LMK04828: Synchronization of the output clocks

Guru 12735 points

Part Number: LMK04828

Hello,

My customer has some questions about the LMK04828 synchronization.

1. When both PLL1 and 2 are locked, are the output clocks of the LMK04828 all synchronized without additional control?

2. Can the SYNC pin be used only when synchronizing multiple devices?

Can a user use the SYNC pin for more precise synchronization of output clocks from one device?

3. What is the maximum time difference between synchronized output pins?

Thank you.

  • Hi JH,

    1. the locked state of PLL1 and 2 does not ensure outputs synchronization. The outputs will have deterministic phase relationships though. If you follow the programming guides in the datasheet with a sync, the outputs can be sync'd.

    2. Sync pin can be used on a single device too.

    3. with all outputs dividers the same you can achieve 50ps skew between the outputs

    regards,
