LMK61E07: Is it possible to generate 1GHz CLK output using LMK61E0M on TICS Pro

Part Number: LMK61E07
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK61E0M, LMK61E2

Hello,

I am trying to validate if LMK61E07 can be used to generate 1 GHz CLK or not.

As far as I understood from the TICS Pro SW, it looks like 1 GHz CLK output is not possible (given the VCO range of 4.6GHz to 5.6 GHz and minimum divider possible is 24 (pre-divider - 4 and out divider - 6 ))

But, the datasheet of LMK61E07 suggests that 1GHz LVPECL output is possible.

Is there a chance that I am looking at a different device on the TICS PRO? Curretnly I've selected LMK61E0M on the TICS Pro - Is this the correct device selection to program an LMK61E07 oscillator?

Many thanks

Hima

  • Hi Again,

I am wondering whether TICS-Pro is the right "Programming tool" to program LMK61E07? or Is there some other tool of TI that can help here?

  • Hi Hima,

After doing some digging, I believe that the LMK61E0M profile in TICS Pro is not suitable for programming the LMK61E07. Instead the LMK61E2 profile should be used instead, because that device has the same register map as the E07. I was able to configure a 1 GHz LVPECL output on my internal version of TICS Pro.

However do not think the LMK61E2 profile is available to the general public. You may want to try the LMK61xx Programming Tool available here from TI.com, it is a discrete application. Let me know if you have any issues with it.

    Thanks,

    Evan Su
