LMX2594: Phase synchronization

Part Number: LMX2594

Hi team,

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

Application Mode: Auto mode allows linear frequency sweep (fractional divide mode, sweep bandwidth of 20 MHz) with fixed VCO band. With the rampclk pin, the external trigger one-shot frequency sweep uses the same reference as the LMX2594.

Observations: The phase changes after each external trigger sweep (from the time domain, the signal after each trigger moves left and right, not fixed).

1) Can the LMX2594 automatically phase-align the output signal with the trigger signal after every external trigger sweep? Just like the autofeed feature similar of HMC703, or a manual trigger/configuration for phase alignment.

(2) If 1 is able to implemented, does the method used cause the LMX2594 to lock back? (the expected condition is to remain out-of-lock since the frequency sweep is done only a few microseconds after an external trigger, and no frequency sweep is possible in the out-of-lock state)

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry
