CDCM7005-SP: VINPP question

Part Number: CDCM7005-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCM7005

Hello,

Datasheet 7.3 says VINPP min/max = 0.5V/1.3V.
However, note(2) says “VINPP minimum and maximum is required to maintain ac specifications; the actual device function tolerates at a minimum VINPP of 150 mV”. My customer is a bit confusing with those explanations.
Is the datasheet saying CDCM7005 is functional as a PLL when VINPP is more than equal to 150mVpp, but VINPP has to be 0.5Vpp to 1.3Vpp to meet all ac specifications? If yes, here, what are the exact ac specifications in the datasheet?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hi Hirano-san,

Right, the PLL will function as long as the input signal has a min. of 150mV swing. However, in order to get good phase noise performance, the recommended input voltage should has a swing of 500mV. This is usually not a problem if we use LVPECL or LVCMOS VCXO. In other words, do not use LVDS VCXO.
