LMK04832: With AFE7950

Part Number: LMK04832
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE7950, LMK04828, AFE7950EVM

Hi,

Could you guide the connection between AFE7950 and LMK04832 for REFCLK-(l17), REFCLK+(K17), SYSREF-(L19), SYSREF+(K19)?

- output format setting of LMK04832

- Is AC decoupling acceptable?

- Does LMK04832 support JESD204C?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

The clocks connections from the LMK04832 to AFE7950 can be keep same as AFE7950EVM connections from LMK04828.

LMK04832 output format can be AC coupled higher amplitude format (LVPECL) for REFCLK and SYSREF will be DC coupled LVDS.

SYSREF AC/DC coupling totally depends on the AFE7950 use case, if it would need AC coupled then keep the AC coupling caps else keep the DC coupled input.

    Yes, LMK04832/28 supports JESD204C.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your answer.

Is AFE7950 GND for REFCLK, SYSREF DGND?

If it's AGND, could you provide AC coupling circuit for SYSREF?

    Thanks.

  • Hi David,

In the AFE7950EVM, REFCLK and SYSREF used the same AGND.

As I mentioned above, the use case of AC coupled or DC coupled SYSREF totally depends on the AFE use case.

For the AC coupled SYSREF, I would suggest to consult with data converter team.

    Thanks!
