LMK03033CEVAL: How I can connect USB2ANY?

Part Number: LMK03033CEVAL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, USB2ANY-UWIRE, CODELOADER

Hi,

I wan to connect to LMK03033CEVAL using a USB2ANY.

I  need an adapter board according to the user's manual,(LMK03000C/01C/02C/33C Evaluation Board User's Guide (Rev. A page 49),

However  an adapter board was  not included in the evaluation module nor in a USB2ANY module.

Could you tell me how I connect to LMK03033CEVAL without an adapter board?

Thanks in advance.

Best regard,

Olive.

  • Hi Olive,

As far as I can tell, the USB2ANY-UWIRE adapter board should have been included with your EVM if you ordered it from TI. The other option given by the datasheet is LPT/Parallel Port which would need a specialized cable, but I am not familiar with it and it's possible that modern computers don't support it anymore. Based on this thread, an older USB2UWIRE adapter could also work, but I was not able to find any places to buy that on the internet. I have paged some experts for more ideas.

  • Hi Olive,

There should be a way to use jumper cables to connect the uWire pins directly into a USB2ANY adapter, I am sorting out the details. Do you have a USB2ANY adapter/module (https://www.ti.com/tool/USB2ANY) available? It is not sold with the EVM.

  • Hi Evan,

    1) Yes I have a USB2ANY adapter. Also, LPT/Parallel Port cable was included in the LMK03033CEVAL module.

    2) But  in the module, there was no USB2ANY-UWIRE adapter board shown in the following figure.(User manual p49)

Also, I've got the answer from the purchase team that this adapter board is not supported anymore.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Haeyong,

Good to know that you have a USB2ANY adapter. You will need to use jumper wires to connect the CLK, DATA, LE, GND, and SYNC lines from the uWire interface into the corresponding leads of the USB2ANY. I am trying to figure out the identities of the leads on the uWire header and will let you know when I do. Alternatively if you have a method of connecting wires to the test points, those could be used instead of the headers.

  • Hi Haeyong,

After studying the schematics and PCB layout I believe the correct wiring solution is as follows:

Try it out and let me know if you are able to successfully use the USB2ANY.

  • Thank you for your help. Here is my results.

    1.  First I tried to connect using CodeLoader as described in as LMK03000C/01C/02C/33C Evaluation Board User's Guide (Rev. A).

Then I tried to set "Port setup" in CodeLoader as follows.

But in the port setup, I could not connect "LE" to "10"( 10 is disabled)

    2. Using TICsPro, I can connect board successfully.

    Thanks again.
