LMK00301: Output hardware configuration

Part Number: LMK00301

Hi Team,

As far as i can see in order to configure the different outputs banks of the buffer you have to send either '1' or '0' the the designated pins.

Since this device is the clock source for my FPGA when startup i want to make sure that the FPGA gets the clock in a predefine type.

Is it possible to tie the inputs either to ground or to a pull-up to configure the output "manually"

best regards

  • Hi Ohad,

Yes, you can tie these pin through a pull up or pull down to set a specific output type. Pin control buffer are usually used in this case, dynamic change is occasionally used.

  • Hi Asim,

    Thanks for the quick reply,

Additional issue that I'm trying to face is the following:

Suppose I have a clock in and while system is running I want to change the clock source is it possible?

If so, what would be the delay by switching from one clock source to the other? (FPGA clock is one of the outputs of the lmk00301)

    Best Regards

  • Hi Ohad,

Yes, its possible. There might be a slight delay of few nanosecond before the it changes to other clock. I had a similar measurement for this case in AC coupled mode before which didn't show significant delay on this buffer.  Note that, both clock at each inputs were at same frequency.

Below is a snap shot of that measurement.
