CDCE6214-Q1: 100MHz and 125MHz output clock configuration support

Part Number: CDCE6214-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE6214,

Hi TI team,

We are using CDCE6214TWRGETQ1 in one of our automotive design. Our requirement is to have 100MHz and 125MHz clock at output as shown below:

As per CDCE6214 datasheet, it can achieved with any of the three method:

Question is: Can you please suggest how can we acheive this?

  1. What should be the value  for FREQ_INC for 125MHz and 100 MHz?
  2. What are all the register to be configured to achieve this clock frequency?
  3. What is the FREQ_INC value configured in the EEPROM of CDCE6214?
  4. Can TI support us with programming EEPROM with above requirement and support us with customized part?

Regards,

Vidhya

  • Hi Vidhya,

Frequency increments/decrements are part of the DCO mode, which is only used for special applications. In your use case the device should be operated in the standard mode, so you can disregard FREQ_INC, FREQ_DEC, and other DCO fields.

To configure the device for your desired 125 MHz and 100 MHz output, it's best to use the CDCE6214-Q1 profile in our TICS Pro software (https://www.ti.com/tool/TICSPRO-SW). On the "Output" page there is a basic wizard where you can enter the output frequencies you want and the software has functions to calculate and apply the appropriate register settings. After making any other modifications, the settings can then be exported and programmed into the device. We can help check your configuration if you are not familiar with the software.

TI may be able to provide preprogrammed parts if the business case is significant, if you are interested I can put you in contact with our clock generator marketing expert to check.

    Best,
