CDCE6214-Q1: Design Support

Part Number: CDCE6214-Q1

Hi TI Team,

We are reviewing to use CDCE6214-Q1 in one of our automotive designs in place of Skyworks Si5332.

Have some queries, have listed them below, please help to clarify.

1.. The device is pre-programmed for two options, based on this will the device output 100MHz LVDS or LP-HCSL on all the outputs or only one any one of the four outputs?

2.. On the clock output side, the datasheet states it as “LVDS-like” , are there any limitations in configuring the device output as LVDS which will not meet the LVDS specs? We are curious to why it is state as LVDS-like and not LVDS?

3.. We are planning to generate 1x HCSL out of 156.25MHz, 1x-HCSL out of 100MHz and 1x LVDS out of 100 MHZ with a 50MHz crystal input. Kindly let us know whether this is realizable.

4.. Does TI have any tool or utility to generate the select the mode, type of output, set the frequency etc. If yes, please share the tool with us.

Thanks,

Sandra

  • Sandra,

    1. This is a known datasheet issue, we are working to resolve this. The default on both pages is 4 100-MHz LP-HCSL outputs.
    2. The common-mode voltage for VDDO = 1.8 V is lower, hence why this is defined as "LVDS-like" - see below:
    3. This configuration is doable. I advise spacing an output between the 156.25-MHz clock and the 100-MHz outputs.
    4. The TICS Pro tool is suitable for generating these configurations - see here: https://www.ti.com/tool/TICSPRO-SW

    Thanks,

    Kadeem
