BQ4802LY: external SRAM

Part Number: BQ4802LY

Hi team,

I wanted to make sure I correctly understand how the external CMOS SRAM should be attached to the BQ4802LY. I’m under the impression that CS is used strictly to select the RTC registers and CE_IN is used strictly to select the external SRAM IC via CE_OUT to allow for the use of the full address range of the SRAM IC, can you confirm?

Is there a recommended 32k x 8 SRAM IC that would be suitable to pair with this IC?

Thanks,
Ben

  • Hello Ben,

Apologies for the delay on this.

This is a very old device, so information about it and support may be limited. I would recommend to find a newer IC similar to this device.

The function for CS/CEIN is described in the READ MODE and WRITE MODE sections. You also find the operational truth table in Table 1 of the datasheet. I believe you are correct.

Is there a recommended 32k x 8 SRAM IC that would be suitable to pair with this IC?
We do not have a recommended IC.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Luis,

Does TI have any recommendation for parallel RTC/NVRAM parts? I am not seeing any alternates to BQ4802LY.

    Thanks,
    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

I've looked through the portfolio as well and do not see any new RTC's, this is an artifact of a TI acquisition some time ago. The screenshot shows the only offerings that may fit the requirement but it is mainly these older family of devices.
