CDCE937:About writing to EEPROM

Part Number: CDCE937

Hi support team.

Regarding data byte 01, is it okay to overwrite bit6 (EEPROM Programin Status (read-only))?

Data byte 00 consists of only read only bits and the data sheet also prohibits writing, so I would like to confirm.

Also, please let me know if there is something other than the example that overwriting is prohibited by the read only bit.

Best regards,

Higa

  • Hello Higa-san,

I am testing whether the bit is writable.
I have also asked designers if writing the bit will cause any problems for the device.

I will let you know as soon as I hear back and can provide an answer.

    Thank you so much,

  • Hello Higa-san,

I have tested the bit 6 of the 01h offset also called the EEPIP, which is a read only bit. Writing the bit to 1 or 0 will not change the device. If you try to forcefully overwrite the bit, it will not change and stay at 0.

I have not heard back from designers but I do not believe we specifically prohibit the writing of this bit just that nothing will change if it is written to.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Kyle-san

    Thank you for your confirming.

If you get any information from designers, could you let me know?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Higa

  • Hello Higa-san,

I have discussed with the designers, but that specific bit does not prohibit overwriting the bit.

If there is a special requirement we will list it in the datasheet but since the bit is a read only there is no issue involved when writing to this bit. It will not change even when written to.

    Best regards,
