LMK04832-SP: Questions for "Input Clock Switching - Automatic Mode"

Part Number: LMK04832-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04832

Hi,

I have 2 questions regarding of the Auto Mode clock switching if someone can answer please:

1. Can LMK04832 be configured as single PLL (PLL2 only) for "Input Clock Switching - Automatic Mode"? It seems like "Input Clock Switching - Automatic Mode" is only available for dual PLL configuration because the holdover function only works on PLL1. I must use Input Clock Switching - Automatic Mode since my system requires to switch to a secondary CLKin when the primary CLKin is missing.

2. My input clock is LVDS. Per TI datasheet section 9.1.2.1, TI recommends setting the input mode to bipolar (CLKinX_BUF_TYPE = 0) when using differential reference clocks. The LMK04832 internally biases the input pins so the differential interface should be AC-coupled.   However, datasheet section 8.3.6.3 states that "To ensure LOS is valid for AC-coupled inputs, the MOS mode must be set for the CLKin and no termination is allowed to be between the pins unless DC blocked.".  So, should I configure the input to "MOS" mode or "bipolar" mode?

Thank you,

Yue
