LMX2820: Capability to automatically mute output while PLL is unlocked?

Part Number: LMX2820

Some clocking devices have the capability to automatically mute the output while the PLL is unlocked, e.g. during VCO calibration and when changing frequencies. Can the LMX2820 do this, or does it need to be managed externally by whatever is controlling the LMX2820?

  • Hi Ben,

LMX2820 supports double buffered register. When this feature is enabled, the output frequency will not change until you have program all the new frequency registers and hit the calibration button.

You can connect the LD pin to the MUTE pin so that when LD turns LOW due to unlock, the output will be muted.
