CDCE6214-Q1: CDCE6214-Q1 Clock Frequency Change time and question

Part Number: CDCE6214-Q1

We are using TI's clock generator (LMK series). However, we are reviewing CDCE6214-Q1 due to the following problems.
The first major problem is the frequency change time, and the second problem is that you only want to change the frequency of one channel,

but when you change the frequency, both channels stop for a moment.

CDCE6214-Q1 Device is

-. Is it possible to change the frequency within 1ms?
-. I'm using two channels, and I'm only going to change the frequency of one channel, and I want the other channel to come out without interruption.

change frequency time : about 2.6ms (LMK series)

yellow : out0

green : out1

blue : I2C

  • Jung,

    For the LMK device:

    1.  If you use the TICSPro wizard - on the design report page there is a list of the register values that will be written to the device. You can write the registers that have changed between the two configurations leaving the others unchanged to minimize write transactions, decreasing transition time.

    2. You cannot change the frequency without experiencing the interruption.

I will get back to you Monday by EOD about the CDCE's capabilities.

    Best,

    Cris

  • Jung,

Were you wanting to have the two desired frequencies from the same part? If so, this part is not capable of producing your specific frequency combination. We are discussing with your FAE about device capabilities. Please continue to communicate through them or reach out to us through email so as to consolidate information through one channel.

    Thank you,

    Cris
