LMK1C1102: CLKIN could place floating or not?

Part Number: LMK1C1102

Hello expert,

My customer would like to know if LMK1C1102 CLKIN pin can be placed floating or not. Could you kindly answer for it?

Based on datasheet table 9-1, it seems like CLKIN could be floating but the output will be pulled low when enable signal is pulled low. And when the enable signal is pulled high, what is the situation for the output pin? Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Ann,

The CLKIN pin is the input signal that is being buffered out.  If the CLKIN is left floating the buffer will not be functional, as the function of the LMK1C1102 is to buffer out the CLKIN signal to the four outputs (Y0, Y1, Y2, Y3).  As you mentioned with table 9-1

When the output enable 1G is pulled low, the output will be pulled low.  When the output enable is pulled high then the signal at CLKIN is buffered out to the outputs.  Therefore, if CLKIN is left floating while the output enable is high then the outputs will be floating as well.
