CDCE6214: EEPROM writing/reading issue

Part Number: CDCE6214

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am reaching out to request guidance and information regarding the process of writing to the EEPROM of the CDCE6214. I've encountered an issue after my initial attempt to write to the EEPROM. Subsequently, every read operation returns a blank value of "0x0000". I've been able to read/write registers without any trouble initially, but it seems that something went wrong during the EEPROM writing process. I've been following the method outlined in the "Direct Access Flow" on page 34 of the datasheet for the "CDCE6214 Ultra-Low Power Clock Generator With One PLL, Four Differential Outputs, Two Inputs, and Internal EEPROM".

In addition to seeking guidance on rectifying the EEPROM issue, I also observed an error in the correspondence between the "CDCE6214 Ultra-Low Power Clock Generator With One PLL, Four Differential Outputs, Two Inputs, and Internal EEPROM" datasheet and the "CDCE6214-Q1 Register Map". I have attached a screenshot for clarification purposes.

I would greatly appreciate any insights or guidance you can provide regarding the EEPROM writing process issue and the discrepancy between the mentioned documents.

Sincerely,

Massimo Beaulieu

  • Massimo,

Thank you for making us aware of this issue - I have logged the datasheet issue for needing a revision.

Given that you are still able to access the device through I2C, are you able to reprogram the EEPROM with the desired values? If you start up the device in fall-back mode (HW_SW_CTRL pin floating), do you still see only 0 returned for read operations? Does a scan of the I2C bus show the device at the correct I2C address, instead of seeing an address of 0 or 7F?

    Thanks,

    Kadeem
