Inquiry about clock buffer recommendation including multiplier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE6214

Hello,

My customer is looking for a clock buffer product that can receive 30.72MHz TCXO output and multiply it by 4 to output 122.88MHz (2 Port).

If there is a suitable product among TI's clock products, please recommend it.

Thank you.

JH

  • JH,

Yes, for multiplication and buffering a clock signal, the best option will be a clock generator.  What kind of output format will you need? CMOS, LVPECL, HCSL, LVDS, etc?

  • Hi William,

    Thanks for your reply.

The output format they want to use is LVCMOS.

Because they want a low-cost product, they prefer clock buffers with multipliers if possible. If that option is not available, please recommend the lowest cost clock generator.

  • JH,

Because we do not have any buffers with multipliers, a clock generator is the best solution. I would recommend the CDCE6214  as it is low cost and high performance.  The CDCEL824 is an older clock generator with significantly worse jitter specification but its the cheapest option for your use case, so I thought I would include it.  I will also loop in our clock generator expert who can offer any additional support.

  • Hello,

I will be OOO until Tuesday 1/16, but yes the CDCE6214 can achieve your requirements.

    Best,
