LMK00334-Q1: LMK00334-Q1

Part Number: LMK00334-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00334, LMK00304

LMK00334 clock buffer datasheet implied that CLKIN can support HCSL clock, however Vild_min = GND.

Most HCSL clock outputs shows Vol_min = -0.15V (including the LMK00334 - see image below).

Given this limitation, it doesn't appear that the LMK00334 can be ganged in series, or accept most HCSL clocks.

Does the LMK00334 support HCSL clock at CLKIN,  if the HCSL clock has Vol_min < GND (-0.15)?

  • Gilles,

Yes, the LMK00304 can be used in series and supports HCSL on CLKIN.  The Vol minimum of  -150 mV is very rarely going to actually happen, and if it does, it does not violate the absolute minimum voltage specification for the CLKIN pin.  In the unlikely event that a Vol level this low does appear consistently, it will not cause any damage to the device.
