TLC555: Minimum output pulse duration in monostable mode

Hi,

Can the TLC555 be used in monostable mode with an output pulse duration of 0.5us?
Is there a minimum limit for the duration time?
If it is not available for use in 0.5us, are there any other part numbers that are usable?

Figure 11 in the datasheet shows a duration time range of 1us to 10s.
To achieve a duration of 0.5us, for example, a capacitor of 0.001uF and a resistor of 0.5kohm can be used, but this falls slightly off the chart.

Hi Kei,

It looks like you may be referencing a previous revision of the datasheet for the TLC555. From page 13: "When the trigger is grounded, the comparator storage time can be as long as 1 µs, which limits the minimum monostable pulse duration to 1 µs."

Do you have any other parts, such as monostable multi vibrator, that can be used with pulse duration of less than 1us?

Hey Kei,

Unfortunately none of the 555 timers will meet this requirement. Below is a table showing the various minimum output pulse widths for the different 555 devices.
