LMK04828: HSDS Support according to data sheet

Part Number: LMK04828
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , LMK04228, LMK04821, LMK04826

Hello,

We are finalizing a design based on the LMK02828 to drive several ADCs clocks. When checking the possible output formats to connect the clocks, I saw a difference between data sheets. According to the old LMK04828 data sheet (SNAS703) it is possible to use HSDS with 6,8, or 10 mAs. In a newer version (I think the latest version, SNAS689A from July 2019) all references to HSDS were erased from the data sheet. I though that maybe a problem was found while using this output format and it is no longer supported. At least until I checked the common LMK0482x (SNAS605AS from May 2020) where HSDS is still, or again, there.

My question is, is this output format supported? Can I safely use it in my design?

Thank you for your help.

  • HSDS is still supported on 2/3 of the GPNs you referenced.

SNAS703 is the LMK04828-EP datasheet and HSDS is supported on LMK04828-EP.

SNAS689A is the LMK04228, which is a trimmed-down and cost-reduced version of the LMK04828 that lacks a lot of the features. HSDS is not tested at production on these devices. We don't disclose it, but it's likely still there in the register map at the same position as LMK04828. It probably even works on most devices. We just don't have any production test data for LMK04228 to guarantee it, so it is undisclosed.

SNAS605AS is the LMK04828, LMK04826, and LMK04821 datasheet and HSDS is supported on all three of these GPNs.
