LMX2595: datasheet figure 15 and ramp rate

Part Number: LMX2595

LMX2595 datasheet Figure 15 shows a time scale of 100 usec/div, and that time scale indicates the ramp is 120 MHz in 100 usec.   There are marker values listed on the plot suggesting that ramp happens in about 2 usec.   Seems like conflicting information.

Is a 50 MHz / usec calibration free VCO ramp possible?    And that faster ramp is limited to the VCO sub bands?

Rich

  • Hi Rich,

The marker is wrong. The rate of ramp was set to 120MHz/100µs.

The rate of ramp is limited by the possible loop bandwidth. A faster ramp rate requires higher loop bandwidth. We may not get linear ramp if the rate is too fast that the loop filter is not able to response in time.
