CDCE6214: Design question & Schematic check

Part Number: CDCE6214
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK3H0102

Tool/software:

Hi Teams,

My customer is wondering Is it possible to set CDCE6214 to output 2MHZ on Y1P and 32kHz on Y4P at the same time?

Is there any setting that you can refer to us?

And could you help to double check for the schematic?

Thanks.

  • Ryan,

Could you provide an image of the schematic on the other side of the CDCE6214 as well?

Yes, the CDCE6214 can meet your request. Attached is a hex file with that config, assuming you are using a 25 MHz XTAL input.

  • Hi Cris,

    Please see the attached.

Another question, customer is wondering is it possible to set output Y1P=8192K(8.192M) and Y4P=4000K(4M) at the same time?

  • Ryan,

The schematic looks good, but REFN can be left floating.

Unfortunately, this part cannot produce both 8.192 and 4 MHz at the same time, as they do not have a common multiple within the VCO range. The LMK3H0102 can fulfill this need and does not require an external reference input.

    Best,

    Cris

  • Ryan,

Alternatively, if you use a 32.768 MHz xtal, you can use the CDCE6214 to produce your desired frequencies.

    Best,

    Cris
