TRF3765: How to generate a broad consective frequency sweep with this chip

Part Number: TRF3765
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594

Tool/software:

Dear Sir or Madam,

We plan to use TRF3765 to generate a broad consecutive frequency sweep (1.5-3.5GHz). I want to know whether this chip can help us to achieve the goal. Could we use the ramp function for this part? Because I didn't see this function in the guide document. Or do we have any function similar to the Ramp function in this chip? If it is not suitable, could you provide us with any recommendations? We have a limitation of space that is smaller than 5 by 5 mm. Thanks a lot for your kind help, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Quan

  • Hi Quan,

The TRF3765 does not support ramp function. I am forwarding your ticket to another team to check if there are other alternative parts for this.

  • Hi Quan,

We do have couples of synthesizers support ramp function, but non of them can support 1.5GHz - 3.5GHz sweep.

    LMX2594 can support 1.875GHz - 3.5GHz ramp.

    LMX2752 can support 1.6GHz - 3.2GHz ramp.

The above devices are in 6 x 6 package.

Please note, if you are looking for linear ramp, you need to use discrete PLL + VCO. Synthesizer needs multiple VCO calibrations during the ramp, therefore you will get "staircase" ramp instead of linear ramp.
