Hello Team,

I hope you are doing good. One of our customers bought 45 units of LMK03328RHST, and claim the housing pins have a striking structure as if the pin has a metallic grade. Please see the following pictures.

Customer asks. Is this pin design intended by the component manufacturer?

Soldering technique used by customer is vapor phase with a peak temperature of 240C.

Can you please advise if this is not an issue for the customer or will not create a functional issue later?

If you can analyze the components further and assure us that this behavior of the components is normal, customer is ok to use the components.

Please see this response from our product engineering team:

By definition the side walls of the leads which are exposed from singulation are not designed solderable surfaces. QFN will sufficiently solder without these sides wetting, so if they are oxidized it would have no impact.

If they need the sides to wet they need to go to a more expensive option called Wettable Flank.
