LMX2582: New oscillator verification for PLL input

Tool/software:

We are planning to use oscillator (P/N: LMK61PED0A2) as input for PLL (P/N: LMX2582RHAT), this oscillator frequency will be set to 100MHZ.

The output of PLL (P/N: LMX2582RHAT) frequency is 1800MHz and this will feed to ADC IC (P/N: ADC12DL2500).

Can we use the above-mentioned oscillator for PLL input?

To answer your question, would you tell us what is your phase noise requirement on the 1.8GHz clock?

Hi Noel Fung,

The phase noise is not directly mentioned in the ADC datasheet,

The 1800MHz will feed to ADC (P/N: ADC12DL2500) whose aperture jitter is about 70fs

Can we select based on aperture jitter or any parameter need to consider?

Hi Haritha,

If you are not sure on the clock jitter (or phase noise), suggest use a high performance oscillator first. You could switch it back to our oscillator later if it does not degrade your system performance.
