LMX2594EVM: Is it possible to achieve 1 GHz bandwidth on a FMCW signal with the LMX2594 EVM evaluation board?

I am doing a FMCW project and I would like to know if, to get a chirp at 10GHz and with a bandwidth of 1GHz, it is enough only with the LMX2594 EVM evaluation board or it is needed some additional component?

The short answer is no. We have one plot in the datasheet showing pretty wide bandwidth, but this is on a good day near an area where the VCO range is wide. In general, the bandwidth is much less, especially if you wan to account for any sort of temperature variation. See attached document.2068.LMX2594 Calibration Free Ramping.pdf

Hi Guillermo,

Dean was talking about linear frequency ramp, if you can accept "stair-case" ramp, LMX2594 can support 1GHz ramp range.

I am in need of a device that generates linear chirps with a maximum bandwidth of 2 GHz, can you recommend a device (with evaluation board) that can do this?
