LMK61E08: Regarding Clock Inputs

Hi ,

We are going to use this LMK61E08-SIAR part in our design.

1.If needed to configure this Oscillator as LVPECL output and LVDS output what will be termination resistors and capacitor if the output is connected to the ADC(ADS5409).

2.How can we program this Oscillator.

3.Do we need to connect the SCL, SDA lines to FPGA.

  • Hi,

    1.) You can have ac couple to the receiver. The LVDS output structure has integrated 125 Ω termination between each side (P and N) of the differential pair. so no additional termination needed. LVPECL you'd need 150Ohm to gnd termination for both P and N channels.

    2.) you can use Ticspro tool (can be downloaded from TI.com) clock and timing products portal. Programming section is covered in section 8.5, starting page 22 in datasheet.

    3. These are I2C pins for communication and programming and yes it can be connected to FPGA I2C bus for programming.
