LMX2594: POWERING DOWN / UP MODE USING CE PIN

Part Number: LMX2594

Tool/software:

In our receiver we use LMX2594 and lock a fixed frequency of 14GHz .

We set the CE pin to '0' when we are not converting frequency.

This way we lower the 14GHz power by about 40 dB and remaining locked in a situation where we would like to return to frequency conversion.

3 questions please

  1. What exactly does the CE do? does it turn off an internal amplifier / change only an internal switch?
  2. Is it possible to perform an initial lock when CE is '0'
  3. Is it possible to change frequency and lock when CE is '0'

  • Hi Avi,

Making CE pin = LOW powers down the device, I would expect there is no RF signal output at all. In this power down state, the SPI is still alive in order to retain the written register values. So, programming to the device is still possible during power down state. Up on power up, the device uses the latest written register settings.
