LMK5B33414EVM: Detected 0 USB2ANY interfaces

Part Number: LMK5B33414EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hi TI experts,

When I connect the LMK5B33414EVM to the PC, the device manager does not show any new USB device, at the same time, TICSPRO and other USB2ANY software show that 0 USB2ANY interface can be detected, the following is the specific steps I do, could you help to see what's the wrong with my operations?

  1. Verify the EVM default jumper and DIP switch settings shown in manual
  2. Connect the 12-V external power DC power supply (1-A limit) to VIN4 and GND
  3. I didn't connect the reference clock because I don't have a signal generator on hand right now
  4. Connect the USB cable to PC, the USB light on the board is on, but TICSPRO shows "Detected 0 USB2ANY interfaces". Meanwhile there is no new USB device in windows device manager.
  5. Tried different PCs, including Win10, Win11, desktops and laptops, and have replaced the USB cable, but there is no change in the phenomenon.
  6. Tried updating the MSP430 firmware, but the firmware loader can't detect USB2ANY interfaces either.

Best,

Gaofeng

  • update

MCU_3V3 power supply is normal, but the crystal is not working, there is no clock signal at Y6 test point.

  • Hello Gaofeng,

As a first step please try turning off the 12V power supply and using just the USB cable try to see if a device is detected in TICSPRO.

Even without a power supply to the board we should be able to detect the USB connection to the board because the USB cable provides power.

Another possible issue is that only one instance of TICSPRO is able to connect to any one board at a time. If there is another instance of TICSPRO open on your device it may default connect to the board and will no longer show the board on other instances of TICSPRO.
Please try to close all programs of TICSPRO and try to connect to the board again.

When you first launched TICSPRO did you get any notification requesting to update the USB2ANY firmware?

    Best Regards,
    Kyle Yamabe

  • Hi Kyle,

Thanks for your reply, this issue has been resolved by reloading the firmware using the USB2ANY Explorer. When I first launched thh TICSPRO, I did receive an update notification, but it seems the update might have failed at that time.
