LMK05318BEVM: Inaccurate Output Frequency When Using APLL2

Part Number: LMK05318BEVM

Tool/software:

Hi TI Experts,

I am working with the LMK05318BEVM to generate different output frequencies using both APLL1 and APLL2. I’ve encountered an issue where the output frequency is inaccurate when using APLL2, while it works perfectly with APLL1.

For example, when I configure a channel to output 25 MHz using APLL1, the frequency is generated accurately, both via TICS PRO.  However, when I try to generate 25 MHz using APLL2, the output frequency deviates significantly—sometimes I get 23.70 MHz or 26.43 MHz instead. The same issue with other frequencies too.

This variation is reproducible across different configurations. I am measuring the output frequency on a CRO.

Could you help me understand:

  • Why is APLL2 not generating an accurate frequency?

  • Is there any configuration or calibration required specifically for APLL2?

  • Are there known limitations or constraints when using APLL2 for certain frequency ranges?

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I am sharing screenshots for your reference where I used channel 0 and channel 1 for generating 25 MHz with APLL1 and APLL2.

Thanks,
Ankit
