CDCLVP111: Single-end clock input

Part Number: CDCLVP111

Tool/software:

Hello team,

My customer would like to input AC-coupled single-end clock to CDCLVP111.

Question1

Is it okay to input AC-coupled single-end clock to this device?

If so, what would be the input interface configuration?
Customer would like to see diagram like below.

Question2

What would be the maximum peak to peak amplitude for AC-coupled Single-end clock input?

Best Regards,
Kei Kuwahara

  • Hello Kei,
    AC coupling isn't needed.
Here is the appropriate termination for SE input clock.

    Best regards,

    Vicente

  • Hi Vicente-san,

Unfortunately customer can't change their input clock, and its spec as below.

    • Single-End
    • AC-coupled (VCM=0V)
    • Amplitude: 0.3Vpp - 0.6Vpp
    • Frequency: 1GHz

    Question1
Can CDCLVP111 be used with AC coupled SE clock?

    Question2
I have just realized that VBB pin can be used to bias, when single end clock input.
I am guessing the input configuration might be as figure below. Would you please check it?
Do you think I need 50ohm at the CLKP?

    Question3

What is the min and max amplitude for input clock?
Customer might imput 0.3Vpp clock, and I am afraid it is too small.

    Best Regards,
    Kei Kuwahara

  • Hello Kei,

    1. Yes, that's fine.
    2. You're correct but won't need the 50Ohm load. Well not sure if your clock source requires a 50Ohm to GND.

    3. Refer to table to VOH/VOL.

    Best regards,

    Vicente
