SE555-SP: 3.3V-Compatible Rad Hard ICs

Part Number: SE555-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV4H390-SEP

Tool/software:

Hello, I am designing a radiation-hardened circuit that needs to latch an output state for a relatively long time duration of 100ms after a change in the input state. After the circuit has latched the output for 100ms, the output must be disabled quickly after the 100ms duration, regardless of whether the input has changed state or not. A SE555-SP or equivalent device would work for this, however, I have to power the circuit off a 3.3V supply. Is there any equivalent rad-hard 3.3V-compatible timing IC available from TI that can achieve a 100ms latched output state that turns off quickly afterward, regardless of whether the input state has changed or not? It would also be preferable if there is an equivalent COTS part to purchase for prototyping efforts.

  • Hello Conner,

This circuit can be made from 1 more channels of TLV4H390-SEP. If the input is low impedance and long enough to charge a capacitor via a diode, then the discharge time could be set to 100ms and 1 CH of comparator could be enough. More channels needed if you want to make a latch first then use RC to mark out time with a another comparator.
