BQ32002: Vback current consumption is higher than as expected

Part Number: BQ32002

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team,

We are currently being used BQ32002D part with CR2032 coin cell in one of our design. During validation, we observed that the current consumption from Vback is higher as expected.

According to the datasheet, the Vback current is 0.9uA ~ 1.5uA but we observed that around 1mA of current which is not accepted.

Note: we are upgraded the coin cell from CR2016 to CR2032.

We are following the Coin cell insert procedure was: Device power ON, inserting the coin cell and then device power OFF.

Please help us to resolve this problem.

Thank you..!

  • Hi Gopi,

Are the pull-up resistors mounted? Datasheet suggests all pull-up should tie to the same supply voltage.

Please note, external loading capacitors are not required.

Can you try, insert the battery, apply Vcc supply voltage for at least 1ms, then remove the Vcc supply.
