LMK01801BEVAL: Signal input and kit

Part Number: LMK01801BEVAL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, LMK01801, USB2ANY-UWIRE

Tool/software:

Hello, I have some questions about the Evaluation Board LMK01801BEVAL.
1. Can the LMK01801BEVAL divide a 100MHz (10dBm) sine signal to 20kHz?
2. I see that CLKin1 of LMK01801BEVAL is a differential input. Can it be changed to a single-ended input?
3. What does the LMK01801BEVAL kit include? Does it include USB2ANY UWIRE and USB2ANY? If not, can I control the LMK01801BEVAL directly from my PC?

  • Hi Ziqi,

    1. Can the LMK01801BEVAL divide a 100MHz (10dBm) sine signal to 20kHz?

The LMK01801 has a maximum divide value of 8. There is a built-in pre-divider for output bank B, but its maximum divide value is also 8 - making 64 the highest divide value achievable by this device. So no, the device cannot divide a 100MHz signal down to 20kHz.

    2. I see that CLKin1 of LMK01801BEVAL is a differential input. Can it be changed to a single-ended input?

A SE input is acceptable, as long as the inverting pin is held at the midpoint of the single-ended swing. This can be done by simply biasing the inverting pin to that DC voltage, or by AC coupling the SE input and AC coupling the inverting pin to GND.

    3. What does the LMK01801BEVAL kit include? Does it include USB2ANY UWIRE and USB2ANY? If not, can I control the LMK01801BEVAL directly from my PC?

    The LMK01801BEVAL kit includes USB2ANY-UWIRE.

    Thanks,

    Michael
