LMX2820: Initialization Without Programming Reset Values

Part Number: LMX2820

Tool/software:

At initialization, we are resetting all the registers, and reprogramming the registers with the required values, as done in TICSPro software. Most of the required values are their reset state, as we see in the register map. Do we need to program that registers if we want to use them in their reset values?

If it is posible, we will only program the registers which requires different values than reset values.

Regards

  • If the power on reset value is the same as the recommend value, then you do not need to program this register.  Just be aware that there are many undisclosed bits the power on reset value is different than the recommended value.  Also, don't assume that the power on reset for bits that you do not program is '0'.  For the R0 register, the action of programming this activates some actions for the part like VCO calibration, so you have to program this, but you would be anyways.

So in summary, yes, you can do this.
