LMX2572: PLLatinum SW Phase Noise problems

Part Number: LMX2572

Tool/software:

I'm entering reference clock phase noise with the use Points options. WHen I do that, the interpolation/extrapolation is very off, with a system level phase noise of +20 dBm and some very odd looking traces at lower frequencies. If I load a .csv file, then go back to the points options and use the "update noise" button, the response seems correct. This is with 1.6.9.

  • David,

I will be updating to version 1.7.0 and want to reproduce this issue.  But it's working on my version.  Did you press the "Update Noise" button for the points option.  Here's my test with infinite loop bandwidth

  • I'm working with a saved design file, and when I load it, the initial display, using the "use points" has +20 dBm/Hz noise. If I change the OSC noise source to another source (Disable/Use Metrics/Load Data) and then back, it seems to correct the calculations.
Creating a new .sim file seems to have fixed it, so somehow the datafile has some weird data in it.

Side note: When's the 6th edition of the book coming out?
