LMX2582EVM: NO OUTPUT GENERATION

Part Number: LMX2582EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2582, USB2ANY, SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

I am currently working with the LMX2582EVM to generate an output frequency of 2.45 GHz using TICS Pro software. I am following the steps outlined in the LMX2582 User Guide. However, I am unable to observe any RF output, and I would appreciate your guidance on the matter.

Setup with LMX2582EVM (TICS Pro):

  • Default configuration was loaded from the configuration bar in TICS Pro, and registers were written using Load Registers.

  • RFoutAP is connected to a DSO, and RFoutAM is terminated with 50 Ω.

  • Verified that the 100 MHz oscillator output is reaching the PLL input pin.

  • SPI lines were probed with a logic analyzer and confirmed data transfer. The SPI clock observed is 125 kHz. Attached the image for your reference.

    • Is this clock frequency sufficient for proper LMX2582 operation?

    • I did not find any option in TICS Pro to change the SPI clock frequency.

  • Despite this, no output is observed on the RFout pins.

Setup with F2800157 MCU (Custom Board):

  • Registers were exported from TICS Pro and written in descending order (R64 → R0).

  • A soft reset was issued beforehand by writing 0x00221E to R0.

  • 100 MHz oscillator input has been verified.

  • SPI has been tested with clock rates of 1 MHz and 10 MHz, using Mode 0 (CPOL=0, CPHA=0).

  • No RF output is observed.

  • MUXOUT was configured with MUXOUT_SEL=0 for readback, but no signal is present on the MUXOUT pin either.

  1. Are there any additional initial configurations required apart from the exported register writes?

  2. What is the recommended way to confirm that the SPI writes are being correctly applied to the LMX2582?

  3. Could the absence of MUXOUT activity indicate an SPI communication issue or a separate configuration step that I am missing?

  4. For TICS Pro: is the default 125 kHz SPI clock sufficient, or is there a way to adjust it?

Any guidance to help resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Muhammed Rizwan
