LMX2594EVM: Assistance with Automatic Ramping from 1 GHz to 1.7 GHz on LMX2594

Part Number: LMX2594EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594, LMX1204

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am using the LMX2594 and my goal is to perform automatic frequency ramping from 1 GHz to 1.7 GHz. However, currently it only ramps from 1 GHz to about 1.237 GHz. I suspect this is due to the channel divider value changing, which causes the ramp to stop prematurely. As a result, I end up getting a ramp range of about 1 GHz to 1.247 GHz instead of the desired range.

To test, I previously tried automatic ramping from 1.795 GHz to 1.890 GHz, and I achieved the expected ramping successfully. In that case, the channel divider value for both frequencies remained the same. However, when I try ramping from 1 GHz to 1.7 GHz, the channel divider value for 1 GHz and 1.7 GHz varies, which I believe is causing the issue.

Could you please guide me on how to properly configure the LMX2594 to achieve automatic ramping from 1 GHz to 1.7 GHz? Any example settings or recommended procedure would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support .

  • Hi Akshay,

The ramp function does not take care the channel divider, there is no way to generate ramp between 1GHz and 1.7GHz.

We can let LMX2594 to ramp between 8GHz and 13.6GHz, at the output, use a divde-by-8 device (e.g. LMX1204)  to get 1GHz to 1.7GHz ramp.
