LMK00301: Do I need to add a matching circuit when the clock signal input is LP-HCSL

Part Number: LMK00301

Dears,

We are currently evaluating LMK00301 and would like to consult on its design; Do we need to add additional matching circuits when the clock input of LMK00301SQE is LP-HCSL? Is a 100ohm jumper resistor necessary? Thank you

  • Hi Collin,
LMK00301 will not need the individual 50Ohm to GND termination resistors if the input is already LP-HCSL given LP-HCSL drivers have the 50Ohm to GND termination internally built into the driver eliminating the need for external components.

My next question would be though, why not consider LMKDB1xxx family instead which is our newer LP-HCSL buffer hero family devices (assuming you want HCSL outputs)?

    Best regards,

    Vicente

  • Hi Vicente,

Do I need to add a 100Ohm port jumper resistor to the input port of LMK0031, similar to the resistor shown in the following figure. Our other products also use this chip, and this resistor is added to the circuit. Is it necessary to add this resistor to the input terminal?

For the LMKDB1xxx family, we will first take a look at the data manual, thank you
