Sending a NACk for BQ32000 using MSP430

Hi all.......

I am trying to interface the RTC BQ32000 with MSp430F5438 chip. I read in the datasheet to transmit a NACK after the master receives the data. Here in our case if i want to read seconds register. then i need to read only one byte from BQ32000 then how to send the NACK from master using MSP430F5438. Because i am to able to read what i wrote to register. I always get improper data from any register querried. Also the clock does not update its register values after i set the register values.

NACK interrupt is generated when the master receives NACK from slave am i right??? how can i detect that mster has send the NACK.....

Please help.................
