BQ4802LY: High backup current

Part Number: BQ4802LY

Hi Team,

The RTC circuit using the BQ4802LY is being constructed. When VCC is lowered and the battery is turned on, the current consumption of the battery is about 700 uA.
I checked the peripheral connection and found no problems.
I am puzzled.

Could you please give me some advice?
Thank you very much.

Regards,

Frank

  • I'll add what I've learned since then.
We're using the TPS3613-01DGS for switching between the backup battery and the main power supply.
This IC should have its CEOUT pin go high (Hi) when driven by the BAT supply. However, when measured during backup operation, it reads around 0.8V.
The BQ4802LYPW does not define the CE pin level during backup operation.
This seems to be where the cause lies.
