Hello I am using the LP-XDS110ET in order to flash and debug the controller tms320f28069upzps through the XDS110 output connector but it is not working at all. I have no idea why

    A few things to check first:

    • Is your LP-XDS110ET detected by other programs correctly?
    • Are you using a 10 - pin JTAG connector?
    • Is the green LED light powered ON on (solid green) the XDS110? 
    • Do you get any errors when trying to flash/debug the tms320?
    • Is the TMS320 using a custom PCB, and did you already get the PCB reviewed?

    thank you for your response.


    Regarding the first question: the LP‑XDS110ET is working correctly, as I was able to flash an MSPM0G3507 controller using both Code Composer Studio and UniFlash.
    Additionally, I was able to flash the TMS320F28069UPZPS microcontroller using the XDS110 JTAG Debug Probe, and I successfully flashed the LP‑MSPM0G3507 using both the LP‑XDS110ET and the XDS110 JTAG Debug Probe.

    Does the RST pin of the TMS320F28069UPZPS need to remain held low during the entire flashing process?

    Thanks for the confirmation, so it looks like there is a proper connection with the JTAG cable to the XDS110, and that the TMS320 can be flashed! 

    Does the RST pin of the TMS320F28069UPZPS need to remain held low during the entire flashing process?

    I unfortunately am not familiar on this specific device, since we can flash the device, we could use a logic analyzer to measure the state of the pin during the flashing process to see when it goes high or low. 

    I also wanted to ask are you flashing it different than the JTAG when the error occurs? Additionally, from experience with other devices we should check the SWD pins, as if they are connected to some other peripheral and are potentially active (changing state) during debugging/flashing it would cause an error.

    I am flashing the controller using JTAG.

    Does the LP‑XDS110ET support microcontrollers that are not based on the ARM architecture?

  • Hello Ali,

    Looking at the XDS110ET device page the C2000 is not directly mentioned as a supported device. Looking at the TMS320F28069 product page you seem to use the ALGO-3P-UISP1-TI programmer or the TMDSEMU200-U (XDS200) USB debug probe.

    -The standalone XDS110 has an "expansion interface", also looking at the XDS110 Debug Probe documentation the C2000 MCUs are supported.
