LMK5C33216A: Min Power Consumption

Hello,

Using TICs Pro and the ROM1.tcs as a starting point, I have disabled all outputs, DPLLs, and APLLs with the exception of APLL3 and output 6.  I need a single 491.52 MHz low jitter output locked to an external 48MHz TCXO.

Here's the resulting APLL3 setup.  I do not see any indication of power consumption in TICsPro.  For the most minimal functionality enabled to achieve the above, what should I expect for current consumption?

    As you pointed out, TICS Pro does not have a power consumption calculator built in. Looking at the power consumption characteristics in the datasheet, I would expect the total power consumption to be around 225mA * 3.3V = 742mW for your configuration. I've also put a breakdown of the current consumption below for reference. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Thanks, Connor.  I was coming to a similar conclusion based on the datasheet wording for IDD-ANA and IDD-DIG.  I noticed that APLL1 can be disabled and was hoping that might reduce that current significantly.

    That's correct, in my current consumption estimate I'm assuming that APLL1 is disabled.
