Having trouble with Code Loader 4

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODELOADER

Hi All,

I got the Code Loader 4 setup file at this URL ...   http://www.national.com/en/clock_timing/codeloader.html ... clicking on the Download CodeLoader 4.5.0 link and saving it to my desktop.

After I run the setup and reboot I get the Code Loader desktop icon.  But when I double click to run it, I get this message:

     Run-time error '339':

Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered:  a file is missing or invalid

Has anyone seen this or know of a solution to it?  I have a Windows 7 machine.

Thanks.

  • Hello,

I have CodeLoader 4.5.0 working on my Windows XP Pro system, so maybe the issue is with the installation or execution on Windows 7.

You might try the following steps suggested from Microsoft's website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/compatibility

  • Yup, the Step 3 about making older programs run in this version of Windows did the trick.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Dana,

I am pretty sure that this is a windows 7 issue.  COMDLG32.OCX is a visual basic control for a dialog box.  CodeLoader has been around for about 15 years and many windows platforms with very few installation problems.  Or at least that was true before windows 7 ....

Windows 7 has presented us with some unique problems.  We have been able to get it to install, but the drivers for our USB board do not work and we have not tested the parallel port on Windows 7 as many windows 7 computers do not have a parallel port.

So unfortunately, we do not have an immediate Windows 7 solution.  However, we are working on re-designing codeloader and the interface to work with it.  We have to multiplex this with other projects, so I would estimate it might be about 2 months before we come up with something that works well on Windows 7 well.
