LMX2595: LMX2595RHAT

Part Number: LMX2595

Dear Texas Instruments Support / Applications Team,

I am currently working on a high-performance RF system design using the LMX2595RHAT PLL/VCO. To complete our characterization and simulation stages — especially for accurate system-level analysis including noise, spur behavior, and mixer/receiver interaction — I need detailed models and data beyond what is published in the datasheet.

Specifically, I would like to request the following:

1. Noise and Spurs

  • Phase noise data at additional frequency offsets not already present in the datasheet (especially closer-in offsets and beyond 100 kHz).

  • Any measured integrated phase noise vs. frequency range plots.

  • Measured spur and harmonic profile over frequency / tuning range.

  • Typical jitter values under different supply and load conditions.

Questions:

  1. Do you have extended phase noise plots (for example 1 Hz to >1 MHz offset) for various output frequencies?

  2. Is there data on PLL-generated harmonics and spurious tones under typical lock conditions?

  3. Are there recommended margins or guard bands for spur sensitive system designs?

2. S-Parameter Set

I require an S-parameter data set of the LMX2595RHAT for use in microwave simulation tools (ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, etc.).

Questions:

  1. Is there a complete S-parameter touchstone (.s2p or .s4p) set available for the RF outputs, power pins, and reference input?

  2. If so, does it cover relevant frequency bands for both the fundamental and harmonic regions?

  3. Are the S-parameters de-embedded to the package pins or to the board pads?

3. IBIS (or Equivalent) Behavioral Model

For mixed-signal simulation including power supply and transient effects, a high-fidelity IBIS or behavioral model would be extremely useful.

Questions:

  1. Do you have an IBIS-AMI, Verilog-AMS, or equivalent behavioral model for the LMX2595RHAT?

  2. Does the model include realistic noise behavior and output drive characteristics?

  3. If not IBIS, is there a recommended SPICE / macro-model that can be used for system-level jitter and noise simulation?

4. Additional Modeling Notes

If extended models are proprietary or NDA-protected, I am open to signing the relevant non-disclosure agreement to access them.

Questions:

  1. Do you require an NDA before sharing extended PLL characterization data?

  2. Are there any licensing or usage restrictions for the simulation data?

I appreciate any level of detail you can provide, including measured plots, model archives, and recommended usage notes. This will greatly assist in meeting our performance and verification requirements.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards,

  • Hi There,

Unfortunately, I don't have all the things you requested. To better support you, I suggest you reach out to our local sales team.

  • Thank you for your response.

I understand that you may not have direct access to all the requested materials. However, since this inquiry is related to detailed device characterization and advanced simulation requirements for the LMX2595RHAT, it would be extremely helpful if you could guide me to the appropriate technical contact within Texas Instruments who handles PLL modeling and characterization data.

    Specifically, I am looking for:

    • Extended phase noise and spur characterization data

    • Any available S-parameter files

    • IBIS, SPICE, or behavioral simulation models

    • Information regarding NDA-based access to advanced modeling files

    Could you please:

    1. Share the contact details of the relevant local sales or field applications engineer?

    2. Alternatively, escalate this request internally to the appropriate modeling or RF applications team?

This information is critical for completing our system-level RF validation and simulation phase.

I appreciate your assistance and look forward to your guidance on the next steps.

    Best regards,

  • Hi There,

Except for the IBIS model, which is available in ti.com, we don't have other things you request.

We also have PLL Sim (www.ti.com/.../PLLATINUMSIM-SW) which can help us design the loop filter and simulate the phase noise.

I will pass your contact info to our sales team.

  • Thank you for your clarification and for forwarding my contact information to the sales team — I appreciate your support.

I am aware of the IBIS model available on ti.com and we are already using PLLatinum Sim for loop filter design and phase noise estimation. However, our request goes beyond loop simulation.

For our system-level RF validation, we require:

    • Measured harmonic and spur profiles across frequency

    • Detailed phase noise characterization beyond the typical datasheet plots

    • Any available S-parameter data for accurate RF path simulation

    • Package-level or output-stage modeling information (if available under NDA)

Our application involves a high-frequency RF receiver architecture where harmonic behavior and output characteristics significantly impact mixer performance and overall system noise.

If these datasets are not publicly available, we would be willing to proceed under NDA if required.

I look forward to discussing this further with your sales or applications team.

Thank you again for your assistance.

    Best regards,
