Wireless Clock

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE72010, CDC7005

Hi,

I am looking for a solution for transmition of Clock over RF, the Clock is around few kHZ.

I want to send the clock over RF, get it in the other side and rescue the signal so that the far unit will be synchronized with the main unit.

Please suggest on a solution.

Thanks,

Ziv

    HI Ziv,

You might be interested in taking a look at the CDCE72010 or the CDC7005. With the help of an external VCXO and loop low pass filter, they would generate an output synchronized with a low frequency input in range of kHz. The configuration of these devices will depend on the output frequency of interest (in terms of frequency and jitter requirements) as well as the synchronization signal (what is the synchronization signal frequency?).

The lower the synchronization input signal is, the lower the BW of the PLL should be. When the output needs to synchronize to 1pps coming from GPS, lock time and finding caps that don't change long-term behavior could be an issue. In those cases a DPLL would be a better fit, but we currently do not have any in our portfolio.

    Best regards,

    MJ
